Refinery process unit on the Houston Ship Channel — Allometrics calibrates instrument-tech tool pouches onsite during turnaround windows
Refineries, polymer plants, food & beverage, aerospace MRO, automotive QA — one A2LA-accredited cal lab across the full instrument-tech pouch

The industrial cal vendor most plants settle for

Most refineries, petrochem plants, and industrial sites end up with a calibration arrangement that's better than no calibration but worse than what's actually possible. The big national vendors send a different technician each visit, can't move on a shutdown timeline, and ship anything interesting back to a regional lab three states away. The local cal shop has the right relationships but isn't A2LA-accredited and can't sign a 17025 certificate. So you end up with one vendor doing the easy stuff onsite and another vendor doing the rest by ship-in.

Allometrics built around the opposite premise. Founded in 1976 in Webster, TX — a 25-minute drive from the Houston Ship Channel — we maintain an A2LA-accredited bench investment large enough to keep most scope and DC power supply work in-house and onsite, plus the field-service crew capacity to mobilize multi-tech teams during plant turnaround windows. The same crew that calibrates an instrument tech's tool pouch can drop loops, verify pressure references on a 10,000 PSI gauge, recertify a refinery's scale-trade-cert program, and certify a chemical plant's chemistry lab dimensional set — all under one A2LA accreditation chain.

Long-running relationships with refineries on the Houston Ship Channel and in the Beaumont / Port Arthur corridor, polymer plants in Texas City and Pasadena, food & beverage operators across the Gulf Coast, aerospace and defense MRO operators, and the automotive QA programs that run permanent onsite calibration on bolted-down fixtures.

Industrial buyers we routinely serve — and the framework set we work to in each one

Industrial buyers we serve

  • Refineries & petrochemical complexes — Houston Ship Channel, Texas City, Beaumont / Port Arthur, Lake Charles. Turnaround windows, recurring annual cal programs, fail-and-respond on critical loops.
  • Polymer & plastics plants — full ASTM D1238 plastometer programs, the rest of the polymer QA bench (densimeters, hardness testers, viscometers, force gauges).
  • Food & beverage manufacturing — trade-cert scale work, sanitary process instrumentation, environmental temperature mapping for warehouse and cold-storage facilities.
  • Aerospace and defense MRO — large dimensional micrometers (1–13 in NIST traceable), torque, force, electrical bench, multifunction calibrators.
  • Automotive QA — fixture-mounted micrometer programs, onsite 17025 work, gauge program coordination.
  • Power generation & utilities — Megger work, hot-stick and clampstick program (Honeywell Salisbury, Hastings, AEMC), multifunction process calibrators.
  • Oil & gas exploration / production — pressure to 10 000 PSI, flow meters, level instruments, RTD calibrators, multifunction process calibrators.
  • Chemical manufacturing — process I&E, pH and conductivity for QC labs, full instrument-tech pouch.

Compliance and quality frameworks we work to

  • ISO/IEC 17025 (the calibration accreditation chain)
  • ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 (calibration uncertainty management)
  • ISO 9001 (quality management systems)
  • API Q1 / Q2 (oil & gas product and service quality)
  • IATF 16949 (automotive QMS)
  • AS9100 (aerospace QMS)
  • FDA 21 CFR 211.68 (where pharmaceutical-adjacent food / nutraceutical applies)
  • State Weights & Measures (trade-cert scale work)
  • NFPA 70E (electrical safe work practices for onsite calibration)
  • OSHA 1910 high-voltage (HV-rated calibration work onsite)

Why industrial operators consolidate the cal program with Allometrics — Gulf Coast proximity, A2LA breadth, fail-and-respond service

Why industrial operators consolidate with Allometrics

One A2LA scope across the entire instrument pouch. The same accredited certificate format covers your electrical bench, your process loop calibrators, your pressure dead-weight tester, your scale, your micrometers, and your plant chemistry lab analytical instruments. Most cal vendors specialize in one or two of these — we run all of them under Cert 2039.01.

Onsite-capable for the work other labs ship out. Our $80,000 electrical bench investment means most oscilloscopes and DC power supplies stay onsite rather than ship-in. Mass & dimensional work travels with our gauge block and reference standards. Pressure work uses our portable dead-weight standards. Multi-tech crews mobilize for plant turnaround windows.

Safety-trained for live plant environments. Internal Electrical & Electronic Calibration Safety course covering IEC 61010, NFPA 70E (arc-flash and electrical safe work practices), and OSHA 1910 high-voltage rules. PPE, lockout/tagout, and CAT II/III/IV-rated test leads — built into the job plan, not improvised.

Fail-and-respond service. When a critical loop fails calibration mid-shift, call (281) 474-3329 and we'll dispatch. Recurring annual program customers get priority response.

Audit-time guarantee. If a calibration we delivered is challenged in a customer audit, ISO 9001 surveillance, AS9100, IATF 16949, API Q1/Q2, or state weights & measures audit, we will address it. Records on IndySoft — 21 CFR Part 11–compliant electronic records.

50 years of regulated and industrial experience. Founded 1976. 1,800+ accounts. Continuous through every major refinery turnaround cycle on the Texas Gulf Coast.
